Neutral Milk Hotel

Neutral Milk Hotel was an American indie folk band. The band’s chief songwriter, Jeff Mangum, played with a number of other musicians on the band’s two full-length albums. Notable contributors to the band’s oeuvre include Jeremy Barnes (drums), Scott Spillane (horns), Julian Koster (banjo/bass guitar/saw), and producer-instrumentalist Robert Schneider. Neutral Milk Hotel is a part of The Elephant 6 Recording Company, based in Athens, Georgia. They are most famous for their album In the Aeroplane Over the Sea.

Archers of Loaf

Singer/guitarist Eric Bachmann, guitarist Eric Johnson, bassist Matt Gentling, and drummer Mark Price, all originally from Asheville, NC, formed Archers of Loaf in the early 1990s. Eric Bachmann was a saxophone major at Appalachian State before dropping out because he “didn’t want to be a high school band director.” Read the band’s history on Wikipedia

The Levellers

The Levellers are an English rock band influenced by punk and traditional English music. They are based in Brighton, England where they were founded in 1988. The band is outspoken about green anarchism issues and they have built up a strong and devoted fanbase, despite being nearly universally ignored by mainstream media.

The Drones

The Drones are an Australian rock group who rose to prominence during the early 2000s. They were influenced by an eclectic bunch of bands and soloists including Neil Young, The Velvet Underground, Bad Brains, Suicide, Green on Red, The Birthday Party, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan and Nina Simone.
