about

There’s life — and an abundance of talent — out here.  “Out here” being the area west of Albany and the Capital District that includes Schoharie, Otsego, Montgomery Counties and their environs.

Our goal is to promote “home-grown”  bands and musicians, and to encourage and promote independent, out of the mainstream music.

History

Finnegan’s Wake, aka Torramh An Finnegan, Inc, (Gaelic for Finnegan’s Wake) was registered as a New York State not-for-profit corporation in May of 1997.

The organization was established by Dick Mann (aka BigMister Finnegan) to host a yearly music festival — the first of which was held on the shore of Summit Lake on the weekend after Labor Day in that same year.

Finnegan’s Wake “staged” 7-annual festivals (and one Irish Music and Punk Rock Festival in August of 2001). The last “annual festival” took place in September 2003.

Beginning in 2004, supporters of the Finnegan’s Wake organization promoted local, independent musicians by producing regular shows at the Lake View House in Summit, New York, until it closed in the Fall of 2007. Since then we have done shows at various area venues including The Fire Place Inn in Sharon Springs, NY and The Red Barn in Summit, NY
